As an organizational consultant, keynote speaker and workshop leader, I take my work on “narrative leadership” into the boardrooms and training rooms of blue chip companies, small businesses, NGOs, charities, business schools, and government departments. I am the managing director of Narrative Leadership Associates, a consultancy specializing in the use of storytelling and narrative techniques to help develop sustainable leadership.
I’m also the director and co-founder of the Centre for Narrative Leadership, a not-for-profit network for people committed to developing the emerging field of organizational storytelling. I served on the faculty of the Prime Minister’s Top Management Programme and, for 10 years, was a visiting research fellow at the University of Bath, supervising PhD students in the School of Management.
Over the years I have published a wide range of book chapters and articles on aspects of organizational and leadership development, action research (and latterly on storytelling) in professional and academic journals. My new book, Telling the Story: The Heart and Soul of Successful Leadership (Jossey-Bass, April 2014) reveals the power of narrative leadership to create the inspiring stories needed to face the demands of our troubled times.
