It’s a lie of course
They might last a thousand years
but in the end, even the mighty Sequoias
unplug their roots and fall
Nothing lives for ever
When our borrowed time expires
we die – and thus repay the debt
that we incurred at birth
Except for love
Body and bark return to the soil
shape and substance disappear
all that’s left is love
And stories
